Project Updates

Here's what we did throughout the master plan process:

  • Convened a Steering Committee comprised of local representatives from across the study area to provide input and expertise.

  • Developed and launched an online mapping tool for sharing observations on walking, bicycling, mobility, and safety in Nyack, the river villages, and the school district.

  • Inventoried relevant plans and existing conditions for walking and biking in the study area.

  • Met individually with various stakeholders to understand the diverse needs of the community.

  • Spent a morning at Nyack High School talking with students about urban planning, transportation choices, and their experiences getting to and from school.

  • We were at Earth Day in Nyack on April 21, providing information on the project and showing two demonstration projects: a painted curb extension and a protected bike lane. Many great comments and suggestions were offered regarding street safety in the area.

  • Hosted a public Open House at Nyack High School on Tuesday, June 12. The study team presented an overview of the project and recommendations for street design, policies and programs for the area. We received feedback from many attendees and will be incorporating what we heard into the Draft Master Plan. Links to the presentation and poster boards can be found below under project documents.

  • The Draft Greater Nyack Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan was completed and posted for review. Comments from the project administrators were addressed in a finalized Master Plan document, along with a companion executive summary.

  • The final Master Plan and executive summary are available for download in the project documents below.
